Die Oglala Lakota leben auf der Pine Ridge Reservation südöstlich von Rapid City in Süddakota. Die Pine Ridge Reservation ist etwa 2 Millionen acres groß. Es gibt acht Bezirke auf der Pine Ridge Reservation: Porcupine, Wakpamni, Medicine Root, Pass Creek, Eagle Nest, White Clay, LaCreek und der Wounded Knee-Bezirk.

Die Oglala Lakota bestehen aus weiteren 7 Stammesverbänden

Anzahl der Stammesmitglieder: 17.775

Anzahl der Indianer (Native Americans): 20.806

Sprache: Lakota und Englisch

Größe des Landes im Stammesbesitz: 706.340 acres
Größe des zugewiesenen Landes: 1,064.840 acres
Größe des insegesamt zugewiesenen Landes: 1,771.180 acres
Größe des Landes im Besitz der Refierung: 1.536 acres

Kultur: Die Oglala-Sioux-Stammesmitglieder stammen von der Tetonwan-Abteilung ab. In den Sommermonaten finden Powwos, Rodeos und Wettrennen statt. Die Traditionen werden immer noch mündlich von den Ältesten an die Jugend weitergegeben.

Verkehrsmittel - Transport: Auf der Reservation gibt es keine öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel. Man fährt mit Privatautos. Aber nicht alle haben die Möglichkeit ein Auto zu besitzen und sind deshalb abhängig von Freunden und Verwandten, wenn sie reisen bzw. wegfahren wollen. Die meisten Indianer gehen deshalb zu Fuß. Aber die Ortschaften und Gemeinden sind oft weit entfernt und die Wetterbedingungen sind ungünstig, so dass man in kombinierter Weise läuft und Kollektivfahrten unternimmt.
