Several additional records of occurrence of the eastern spotted skunk (Spilogale putorius) have been documented since 1980 when Tyler and Lodes (1) studied its distributional status. Some of these were listed by Caire, et al. (2), but others have not been published. In addition, certain historical records that had not been uncovered or that were unavailable in 1980 are now known (3-6). Records in Table 1 [Page 49, Page 50]are listed alphabetically by county. This information enhances our historical knowledge and updates the known distribution of the eastern spotted skunk in Oklahoma.

In Table 1 these abbreviations for various museums are used:

CNHM = Chicago Natural History Museum;
CUMZ = Cameron University Museum of Zoology, Lawton, OK;
KUMNH = Kansas University Museum of Natural History, Lawrence;
MCZ = Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA;
OAM = Oklahoma A&M College, Stillwater;
USNM = United States National Museum, Washington, D.C.
