Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to supply urgent deficiencies in appropriations for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and eighteen, and prior fiscal years, on account of war expenses, and for other purposes, namely:
For support of Indian day, boarding, and industrial schools, in addition to the general and specific appropriations made for that purpose in the Indian appropriation Act for the fiscal year nineteen hundred and eighteen, $250,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary: Provided, That the operation of the Act of September seventh, nineteen hundred and sixteen (Thirty-fifth Statutes at Large, page seven hundred and forty-one), limiting annual expenditures for support and education of pupils in Indian schools to $200 per capita, is hereby suspended during the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and eighteen: Provided further, That no part of this sure shall be expended upon improvements or used to increase the compensation of employees.
