"Indians Traveling" By Brevet Brigadier General Seth Eastman (1808 - 1875) is unanimously regarded as one of the foremost recorders of Indian life. A number of his works are on display at the U.S. Capitol. In 1847 he was appointed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to illustrate Henry Rowe Schoolcraft's "Indian Tribes of the United States 1851 - 1857."
