Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized and directed to acquire, by condemnation or otherwise, such land as may be deemed appropriated, not exceeding one hundred and sixty acres, on the site of the battle with the Sioux Indians in which the commands of Major Marcus A. Reno and Major Frederick V. Benteen were engaged, and to erect thereon a suitable monument and historical tablet.
That there is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum
of $2,500, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to carry out the provisions of this Act.
